Qantara K Khan is a faculty member in the School of Business at Independent University, Bangladesh more known as (IUB) since 2011. She has done her undergraduate with a Double Major in Business Law and Business Communication from The University of Southern Queensland, Australia. After working for 2 years with Summit Group in different projects, she completed her MBA from University of Bedfordshire, UK.
Qantara was involved with Nishorgo, a US funded NGO, which worked to preserve the wildlife and its natural habitat in different parts of Bangladesh. Working with the theme “Empowerment through alternative income generation of Forest & Wetland Dependent Communities – A stronger co-management Platform.”, she and her team worked relentlessly with the local communities to give them better understanding on the pros & cons of their surroundings.
During the same time she had her own Tourism Company named BanVoyage, which operated tours to show people, the “Beautiful Bangladesh”. Focusing on tourism sites, which are yet to be discovered, Qantara also worked with Bangladesh Tourism Board to preserve and develop these hidden treasures for the world to see. Her company, BanVoyage frequently arranged cruises to Sundarban, one of the largest mangrove forests on earth. Qantara also organized week long “Mango & Silk Festival” at Rajshahi, the city famous for its mango orchards and renowned for its finest quality of silk.
Qantara is an active member of “BFTD” Bangladesh Foundation for Tourism Development, working hand in hand with the government in promoting Bangladesh, internationally.
At present she is a Board member of Suchinta Foundation and the Joint Convener of Suchinta Bangladesh. Suchinta is a think tank, working with the theme of youth development as well as the digitalization of Bangladesh. It is a platform for young Bangladeshis to think in a new way. Suchinta concentrates on today’s youth and facilitate community contribution to and activism for community development.
Qantara is also working closely with different Ministries of the Government, youth groups in several community youth development projects and is also an active participant in various campaigns in promoting Women Empowerment throughout Bangladesh.
She has been closely involved with different projects with Chittagong Women Chamber of Commerce & Industries (CWCCI).
Qantara is a vibrant member of Rotary club of Dhaka MahaNagar and also Zonta Club of Dhaka II. As an energetic Rotarian she is involved with several social projects of Rotary International. As a Zontian, Qantara continuously works to raise awareness on “Violence against Women” and strives to create social understanding in issues related to women and child.
She is a frequent writer and columnist on various social issues. Her articles are regularly published in various national dailies.
Qantara has been invited as guest speaker by various organizations, home & abroad, to talk about Tourism in Bangladesh and Empowering Women in different sectors in Bangladesh.
